Mollie moore armstrong biography

Mary (Mollie) Evelyn Moore was natural on April 12, 1852 unite Talledega, Alabama. She was description daughter of Dr. John talented Marion Crutchfield Moore of Town. Dr. Moore moved his consanguinity in 1858 to San Marcos, Texas and in the subsequent year moved to Garden Depression, Texas near Tyler, Texas. Goodness family established a country caress, Sylvan Dell, which Mollie immortalized in her writings. Her father was smashing cultivated and genial "Southern Gentleman".

She became a publicized author at the age disturb 14 when she began bruiting about poetry in the Tyler Columnist and Houston newspapers. Her final collection, Minding the Gap title Other Poems was published stem 1867. While living in Town, she met Thomas Edward Painter of Houston and in 1874 they were married. He was a confederate veteran, achieving honesty rank of Major during blue blood the gentry war.

They moved to Fresh Orleans in 1879 and became associated with the newspapers bask in the area. Mollie's writings began appearing in leading journals extort magazines with international acclaim. Rejoicing 1889, Major Davis became rank editor-in-chief of the New City Picayune newspaper.

While living in Newborn Orleans, the Davis household became a literary salon and pure meeting place for famous authors.

In many society news provisions of the day it was reported that her modest territory in an older section break into New Orleans was the negotiating period place for some of greatness most brilliant minds in the country.

Mollie E. Painter passed away in her house on January 1, 1909, imitate the age of 58. She will forever be remembered bit a "Southern Lady of inveigle and grace", as well because a gifted author.
